AWARDS CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES
Purpose of the Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards
Each year Clock Celebrates hosts the Quad Cities LGBT+ Award to recognize individuals and organizations for their leadership in, and on behalf of, the Quad Cities and surrounding area LGBT+ Community. We want to take some time to think about leaders, teachers, organizations in our community and people in your life who have led in significant ways in the last year and nominate them for one of Clock Celebrates: Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards.
Nominations

Nominations will begin March 18th, 2020

Individuals can go to www.clockinc.org/nominate to nominate an individual or organization/business for one of the Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards.

Nominations will close on April 30th, 2020
Polling
-
The polling will begin June 1, 2020
-
Clock, Inc will post all of the nominee’s and individuals in the community can vote for the individuals and organizations/businesses they would like to see win one of the Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards

Polling will close August 1, 2020
Selection Process

The top 3 nominees for each award category will be notified and will be listed on Clock, Inc’s website

Those individuals/organizations will be invited as guests to Clock Celebrates: A Night on Broadway 2020 for the Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards Ceremony

At this event the winners for each award category will announced and recognized
Quad Cities LGBT+ Awards Selection Criteria:
“LGBT+ Advocate of The Year” The LGBT+ Advocate of The Year Award recognizes anyone in the LGBT+ community who has demonstrated exceptional leadership during the year of 2019 who has worked to advance and made a positive impact on human rights for the LGBT+ community.
Considerations in making an Award recommendation this category shall be:

Accomplishments within the year of 2019 that advance the equality and quality of life for LGBT+ individuals.

Deep and lifelong commitment to advancing equality and quality of life for LGBT+ Individuals.
-
Recognized effort toward social justice for all people.
-
Unique or profound accomplishment advancing equality for LGBT+ Individuals.
-
Accomplishments over the individual’s life that have advanced the equality and quality of life for LGBT+ individuals.
-
If two nominees are perceived as essentially tied, tiebreaker considerations may include:
-
Receipt of Quad Cities LGBT+ Award in another category (prior receipt should sway in favor of the other nominees)
-
Number of people submitting nominations for the nominee

Nominee’s willingness to attend Clock Celebrates: A Night on Broadway 2020 to receive the award; attendance shall be valued in making the award
-
“Outstanding Ally of the Year Award” This award recognizes an individual who has contributed to advance awareness and equality for the LGBT+ community. The person receiving this recognition is someone willing to listen, learn, and actively support LGBT+ identities and issues.
*When awarded it is expected the award will go to a person who does not identify in the LGBT+
community.
Considerations in making an Award recommendation this category shall be:

Documented public efforts to advance the equality and quality of life for LGBT+ individuals in the past year.

Recognized support for LGBT+ individuals and causes, privately and publicly, over the life of the nominee.

If two nominees are perceived as essentially tied, tiebreaker considerations may include:

Receipt of Quad Cities LGBT+ Award in another category (prior receipt should sway in favor of the other nominees)

Number of people submitting nominations for the nominee

Nominee’s willingness to attend Clock Celebrates: A Night on Broadway 2020 to receive the award; attendance shall be valued in making the award

“Most Supportive LGBT+ Organization of The Year” This award is given to any business that is an active participant in building a more diverse business community in the Quad Cities Area and has a proven track record of success and involvement. This business has shown involvement in the LGBT+ community, worked intentionally to support all customers/clients who visit them and have created a strong and has provided a welcoming environment where everyone is respected and appreciated for who they are.
*For purposes of this Award, “organization” includes: a sole proprietor business, a business
partnership, incorporated businesses, LLC’s, incorporated non-profit groups, religious organizations,
trusts, and unincorporated groups consisting of three or more people working toward a common
purpose.
Considerations in making an Award recommendation this category shall be:

Notable effort toward the advancement of LGBT+ equality and quality of life in the past year.

Generally recognized commitment of resources and history of effort toward LGBT+ equality and quality of life during the existence of the organization.
-
Synergy created by partnering between nominated organizations and LGBT+ organizations.

If two nominees are perceived as essentially tied, tiebreaker considerations may include:
-
Receipt of Quad Cities LGBT+ Award in another category (prior receipt should sway in favor of the other nominees)
-
Number of people submitting nominations for the nominee

Nominee’s willingness to attend Clock Celebrates: A Night on Broadway 2020 to receive the award; attendance shall be valued in making the award
-
“Most Supportive Teacher of The Year” This award recognizes a teacher that has gone above and beyond and has shown involvement in the LGBT+ community, worked intentionally to support all students and has created a strong and has provided a welcoming environment where everyone is respected and appreciated for who they are.
Considerations in making an Award recommendation this category shall be:
-
Exceptional bravery and/or risk taking in service of equality for LGBT+ Individuals.

Documented public efforts to advance the equality and quality of life for LGBT+ individuals in the past year.
-
Notable effort in providing a safe and welcoming environment for LGBT+ students.
-
If two nominees are perceived as essentially tied, tiebreaker considerations may include:
-
Receipt of Quad Cities LGBT+ Award in another category (prior receipt should sway in favor of the other nominees)
-
Number of people submitting nominations for the nominee
-
Nominee’s willingness to attend Clock Celebrates: A Night on Broadway 2020 to receive the award; attendance shall be valued in making the award

“Most Supportive Health Care Provider of The Year” This award recognizes a health care provider that makes significant contributions to improving the health and well-being of LGBT+ individuals or people, improving the climate for the LGBT+ health workforce, continuously provides a safe and welcoming environment, and contributing gains made by the LGBT+ civil rights movement.
Considerations in making an Award recommendation this category shall be:

Notable effort toward the advancement of LGBT+ equality and quality of life in the past year.

Documented public efforts to advance the equality and quality of healthcare for LGBT+ individuals in the past year.
-
Recognized support for LGBT+ individuals and causes, privately and publicly, over the life of the nominee.
-
If two nominees are perceived as essentially tied, tiebreaker considerations may include:

Receipt of Quad Cities LGBT+ Award in another category (prior receipt should sway in favor of the other nominees)

Number of people submitting nominations for the nominee
