About the event
On Dec. 18, 2025, the federal government proposed new rules restricting Medicaid funding for hospitals that provide care to trans youth. The move greatly threatens access to essential care for trans youth across the country, especially since the practice is already banned in 27 states including in Iowa.
Care for trans youth saves lives and is supported by major medical associations including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We’re asking our community to make public comments in opposition to the proposed rules. These comments do help; it shows our administration and federal judges we do not support this! The deadline for public comments is Tuesday, February 17th.
